Bitch
Time is a bitch. It seems like only yesterday I was moving into Bruce for the first time and had no idea about what was coming. It's hard to believe that since that day I've been through two girlfriends, two hall of the year awards, numerous friends who have come and gone, two other places of residence, I've seen more and done more than I ever thought I would and I'm only 23. Sometimes you stop and think about how much you have changed in the last few years. I would have to say that I have definitely changed since I was 18. I mean, having your heart broken and having your parents divorce will no doubt change a person. Am I better off though, that's the real question. I suppose in some ways I am. I'm wiser with who I give my heart to and more determined to get the hell out of this town. But maybe I am not as good off as I think. I used to be a lot more out going and friendly back then but now I'm more of a shut in. In large groups I don't speak up like I use to and I find it kinda hard to meet new people now days. Of course that may be because everyone around here is 4-5 years younger than I am. Aren't girls suppose to date older guys? It makes it all the more odd to see people hook up in a matter of days of knowing each other and then me having to go home alone. Everyone keeps saying, "just wait she'll come." Well that's great but none of that helps me now. I'm still sitting here by my self. I still go to bed alone night after night with the only person to keep me company being my Winnie the Pooh. *sigh* Bad enough Son is gone, but now everyone seems to be hooking up lately. What a shitty mood I'm in. Time is a bitch.

Pissy
You ever feel left out sometimes? That's how I feel tonight. Travis is going over to Jennifers, Joseph is going out with Nicole tonight (thanks to Heidi), Shelley is hanging out with Justin, Leisl is throwing someone a party, and you know what I get to do? Nothing. The breaks on my scooter snapped last night so I if I were to try to ride that to Kharma tonight things might be...well...dangerous. Imagine going down a hill at about 15mph on a scooter with no breaks. Now I could just walk it down all the hills but damn it this campus is so hilly that it would defeat the purpose of even taking it with me. Half the time I would have to walk it. Keith is going to come over on Sunday and see if he can fix it with a very small welding iron. So until then, I'm stuck here....again....home alone with my iBook. And will anyone care much? Will any of this change the fact Im trapped in this stupid place? No. So I hope everyone has a good evening.

Disney + Pixar = Steve Jobs + $$$$$$
Walt Disney today bought Pixar Animation Studios today for $7.9 billion. As you may know, Pixar has made such films as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles. Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, also was the CEO of Pixar and as part of the deal has been given a chair on Disney's board of directors. Also because of the buy out, Steve Jobs becomes Disney's majority share holder! That means he ownes a larger percentage of Disney stock than anyone else does, which in turn gives him HUGE pull in the company. I wouldn't be surprised to see the relationship between Apple and Disney to start to grow very quickly.

Keynote of MWSF 2000
I'm Kharma right now, waiting for this file to get done transferring. It is Steve Jobs keynote speech at MWSF 2000. This is probably the most important and famous keynote speeches since his return to Apple in 1997. Why is it so important? There are two reasons for this. One, Steve announces and demos OSX (operating system 10) which at that point in time was revolutionary. No one had ever seen anything like this and it was a huge change from OS9. I've heard Steve call the changing from OS9 to OSX as being a brain transplant. Many of the programs for OS9 had to be rewritten in order to work on the new OS. Steve would also describe it later as "the basis for the Mac platform for the next 20 years." So, this was a MAJOR announcement and he demos many of the key features of the original OSX version.
The second reason this speech is so important is because Steve announces that he will be staying on permanently as Apples CEO. He had been fired in the mid 80s for having "ideological differences" with the rest of the board of directors. After he left, he started up an animation studio named Pixar, makers of such animated films like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Monsters Inc., and he started a computer company called NeXT. NeXT didn't really do anything at all because it was incredibly expensive and not very user friendly. What it did do though, was create a foundation for what would eventually become OSX. In 1997, Apple was in shambles and close to bankruptcy. Apple decided that if anyone could save the company, Steve Jobs could, so they fired their current CEO and hired Steve back as an interim CEO. At the end of this keynote, Steve announces that he will remain at Apple and become their permanent CEO. Let me tell you I've never seen a crowed stand up and cheer so loudly and so quickly before. It is a very emotional end to the speech and you can see that Steve begins to get a little emotional himself, but quickly returns to his suave demeanor.
This speech represents the beginning of how Apple is today. About a year after this, Steve will introduce the iPod music player and the rest is history. The power and style of OSX, the iPod, and the iMac which Steve introduced a few years before this, saved Apple and brought them to the forefront of the computing industry. While their marketshare is still under 5%, the company is far and beyond what they were in 1997 and even where they were at the time of this video. I can only wish Apple the best of luck and hope that one day they will regain the dominance that they use to have in the home market.

Girl Situation
A friend told me tonight that I shouldn't hold stuff back in here. I dont know, sometimes I do because I know certain people may be reading it, mainly girls, so I tend to not talk about my girl situation much, unless it pertains to Angelica or someone who I'm pretty sure doesn't read this. Sometimes I don't talk about it because I know that what I think about saying is just a spur of the moment idea or thought that may turn out to be nothing more than just an infatuation at the time or I know that if she were to find out about me having a crush on her then it would just destroy any kind of chance I might one day have. I think that if those girls really did think about it hard enough, they could all figure out who they are. It's not like I try to hide it much. If I want to go on a date with a girl I'm not going to lie about it and tell her we are just going as friends when I have other intentions. Take Laura for example. I had lunch with her a few times and even double dated with my roommate once. When she told me she just wanted to be friends I didn't try to back out and say, "oh well I didn't like you like that anyway." I told her well thats ok if thats what you want then ok. I didn't try to lie about it or anything.
Are there girls out there right now that I want to go on a date with? Sure. Do they know that? Maybe. But for right now I'm happy with how my girl situation is. I don't rush things anymore and I don't try to read into something I know isn't there. I don't set my standards to high and I don't settle for just any one. I'd love to have a girlfriend right now and to be able to curl up next to someone like I use to, but that time is over and new times are upon me. Only to often do I fall asleep next to my Winnie The Pooh Bear and pray that one day I'm going to wake up and he will magically have been turned into a girl. I wish things hadn't turned out the way they did with Angelica or a few of the others, but I can't change anything about that now. All I can do is look to the future and keep my eyes open and just wait for the next girl to come along and hope that I'm finally done with all the heartbreak in my life. Untill then...heres hoping...

X's
X's, as in ex girlfriends/boyfriends, can be funny sometimes. Now before we get going let me just say that no, this isn't going to be about my X's. I hung out with 2 couples today who had previously been together but no longer are. With both pairs I like everyone involved and some of them are my best friends. One pair is trying to rebuild a friendship after several years of not really talking. The other couple...Well...I'm not sure what's going on there. I know she doesn't want to be with him like that anymore and she has told me a number of times that she needed to stop hanging out with him, for his sake, so that he would get over her. But tonight, they went back to her place and drank and watched Aqua Teen. I know your saying well hey at least they are trying to make it work, but I don't see it that way. See, he really wants to be back with her because she just ended it a few weeks ago. Now me and her discussed this whole deal and she keeps telling me how much she doesn't want to hang out with him and how she wont pick up the phone when he calls sometimes and how she trys to not go to Kharma when he is there but then nights like this happen! I wish she would just stop toying with him because its not fair for him. Please understand that I am very aware of how hard it is to go through a break up and how hard it is to let go of someone....oh God do I know how hard that is. But sometimes it just fustraits me to see stuff like that because you know that as soon as one person takes a stand and says look, its done, go away...and means it and actually follows through on it, things might be really bad for like a few weeks maybe, but then it gets better. It cant get better until someone takes a stand. Either together or not together. All she does is talk about how he wont stop and he keeps asking her to come back and she keeps saying no, but then pulls stuff like tonight. She is a great friend to me and I have nothing but love for her, but come on, enough is enough.

Mac World San Francisco 2006 (MWSF 06)
"And lo, Steve came to Mac faithful and said, 'I have presents that you have only dreamed of.' And then, it was good." --Joseph Vogas
Today marks the beginning of a convention called Mac World San Francisco. This is Apples biggest and probably the most important convention of the year. Steve Jobs, Apples CEO, gave the keynote speech where he announced and introduced many new products. If you are reading, please go watch his keynote off of Apple's web page. You must have QuickTime to watch this.

Happy New Years
Alright we had a party here last night for new years. It was the first time I have ever thrown a new years party. I'd say that over all it went pretty well except the part where one of the kids got a MIP while standing out in the parking lot and the 2 people who were throwing up in our bathrooms all night. Laura came over after she got off work and hung out for a few hours so that was probably the best part. I got to see her kiss one of the other girls here...woo hoo! I'm such a guy :) Every one has finally gone home and the house is a mess. My mom is coming back up here today to drop off some stuff so I have to have it clean before she gets back up here. The down stairs toilet is just full of vomit. Maybe I can get Travis to clean it. Every girl here was really cute. Of course 3 of them had boy friends who were here and one was Laura who is just a friend so yet again I get no kiss at midnight. Not even a kiss on the cheek this time. I swear one of these years I'm going to get some on new years. Would have happened last year if Angelica had been in town.
No I'm not making a new years resolution because they are stupid.
